Thanks for writing this. I'm curious how much public overlap you saw with the Effective Altruism movement. (It sounds like a lot given the reference to Constellation). I understand the attraction to longtermism, but if the safety movement is dominated by a focus on preventing the worst possible outcomes (vs the everyday bad happening now or very shortly), we risk ignoring the crisis in front of us for one that is still hypothetical.
Came up only rarely in passing as I recall. But the focus exclusively immediate: training technical model evaluators, creating a centralized job referral site, hiring a chief of staff for organization X. Those all read as very current harms to me, even if everyone implicitly believed in x-risk.
But TBF this all pretty new to me so I may be misreading the taxonomy.
